Physics Lesson Plan of motion definition

A body is said to be in a state of motion when its position change continuously with reference to a point.

Motion can be of different types depending upon the type of path by which the object is going through.
(i) Circulatory motion/Circular motion – In a circular path.
(ii) Linear motion – In a straight line path.
(iii) Oscillatory/Vibratory motion – To and fro path with respect to origin.

Physics Lesson Plan of Type motion

Rotatory Motion

In the above topic, we have discussed linear movement definition, rotary motion is the type of motion occurring when a body rotates on its own axis. The most common example of rotatory motion is the Spinning wheel and the motion of the earth around the sun about its own axis.
When we drive a car, the motion of wheels and the steering wheel about its own axis is also considered as Rotary motion.

Oscillatory Motion

Oscillatory motion is defined as the to and fro motion of an object from its mean position. The ideal condition is that the object can be in oscillatory motion forever in the absence of friction but in the real world, this is not possible and the object has to settle into equilibrium.

To describe mechanical oscillation, the term vibration is used which is found in a swinging pendulum. Likewise, the beating of the human heart is an example of oscillation in dynamic systems.

Linear Motion

Linear motion, also called rectilinear motion, is one-dimensional motion along a straight line, and can therefore be described mathematically using only one spatial dimension. The linear motion can be of two types: and non-uniform linear motion when an object moves in a straight path.
